Prior to Build Ukraine Democracy (BUD) being formally created Dean Anton Demchuk (BUD Senior Consultant) presented Eric Putzig (BUD President) to over 100 Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University professors and administrators. Mr. Putzig discussed his background and then gave a presentation on the subject of democracy and the current global challenges it faces.
February 2023 - Lutsk, Ukraine
Build Ukraine Democracy hosted a student competition on the subject of structuring legislation. The competition was one part of the “Legislating for Democratic Social Change” course in which students from Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University and Lutsk National Technical University worked together to draft legislation for a better Ukrainian future. In a show of true national pride, the students donated all their winnings – 8,000 UAH – to the Ukrainian military.
May 2023 - Lutsk, Ukraine
Build Ukraine Democracy sponsored a four-day cultural tour of Kyiv for the 16 top students of the "Legislating for Democratic Social Change" course from Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University (VNU) and Lutsk National Technical University (LNTU). Awards were given to two students (see solo photos) for their presentations on historical sights – emphasizing the richness of Ukrainian culture - in Kyiv. BUD believes in support beyond the classroom: Wartime has severely limited students' opportunities so BUD sponsors social events, field trips, and friendly competitions. Showing we care matters.

Within the grounds of historic Lubart's Castle BUD presented to the public the lecture “The Democratic Spirit and the Uncertain Future”. BUD will accept more public speaking events in 2024.
September 2023 - Lutsk, Ukraine
Build Ukraine Democracy (BUD) believes in positive relationships with students at Ukrainian universities. We believe it is important to show that people outside of Ukraine care about democracy and Ukrainian lives. In this photo the top students which participated in the alpha stage testing of the new Democracy course - from VNU and LNTU - enjoy a dinner with BUD President Eric Putzig. The students received 11,000 UAH for their academic achievements.

BUD outreach programs include regularly speaking to Ukrainian high school students about the history of democracy, democratic principles, and why it is worth fighting for. We believe it is important that the younger generation see that people from outside of Ukraine care about democracy, care about Ukraine, and care about them.

The oblast/regional news outlet “Volyn News” interviewed BUD President Eric Putzig. The title reads “It is important to let Ukrainians know that they are not alone.”
April 2024 - Regional media interview
Top students were recognized for their participation in BUD’s Understanding Democracy course, delivered during the spring semester of 2024. The certification helps draw attention to the importance of having a basic understanding of democracy and empowers the younger generation to move Ukraine forward as a democracy.
June 2024 - Lutsk, Ukraine
Continuing its outreach to Ukrainian youth, BUD conducted an interactive exercise with high school students in which teams of students had to choose – and explain the logic behind their choice – of living in either a land where there are no laws or living in a land where all laws are determined by one individual. We believe it is important that the younger generation see that people from outside of Ukraine care about democracy, care about Ukraine, and care about them.

BUD President Eric Putzig assisted Volyn National University’s Philology Faculty with many hours of audio recordings for their interactive (“look, listen, repeat”) English language training program.
July 2024 - Lutsk, Ukraine
A forensics lab in Western Ukraine was the venue for a presentation to BUD President Eric Putzig of the various ways in which war crimes are being perpetrated upon the Ukrainian people, with an emphasis on the bombing of civilians and civilian targets. One item of interest was the anti-tank weapon (shown in photo) Ukrainians use to defend their country against Russian atrocities.
August 2024 - Western Ukraine
In commemoration of his birthday BUD President Eric Putzig was awarded recognition by Volyn National University for his contribution to the development of the rule of law and the protection of human rights.
